ESU Public Speaking Competition

Posted: 06/02/18

Godolphin girls again proved how articulate they are with victory in the first round of the English Speaking Union Public Speaking Competition, held at Godolphin on 30 January.

The competition - the largest public speaking competition in the UK with over 400 teams entering each year - challenges students to engage with wide-ranging cross-curricular topics, whilst helping to meet National Curriculum speaking and listening targets.

The winning team of Avni, Lily and Catherine now head to to the London Regional Round on 13 March. Lily also received an award for Outstanding Personality with her speech ‘Where have all the rebels gone?’. A second team of Tea, Linnea and Holly also took part and performed very strongly; with Linnea receiving the award for Best Chairperson.

If the girls are successful in the Regional Round, they will take part in the National Final in Cambridge in April.

Congratulations, girls.
