Dr Clare Watt speaks about her career in scientific research

Posted: 22/02/17

Last Friday, over 50 students heard Dr Clare Watt speak about her career in scientific research. The focus of her research has centred around Space Environment Physics, more specifically the space weather that could impact the satellites orbiting Earth that are responsible for GPS; a vital part of daily, modern life. Dr Watt showed animations and images of solar flares and an artist's impression of the solar wind and magnetosphere around the Earth as well as explaining some of her research into the Aurora Borealis (or Northern Lights). Her talk was very engaging and many of the girls had questions for her afterwards about her work and how they might pursue a degree in Space Environment Physics or a career in scientific research.
