Following on from the success of last year’s event, yesterday we held our second CASathlon in the school’s Fitness Suite. The CASathlon is a triathlon-style relay, with ‘elite athletes’ organised into teams and taking on a sprint challenge in either cycling, running or rowing. Each team of athletes is trying to clock up the highest distance over their combined sprint events, but ultimately the teams’ efforts also combine together and we push one another to reach the largest grand distance total we can across the whole group. We had 3 teams and 12 athletes competing yesterday and managed to clock up an impressive 9.2km – not bad for 18 minutes work! Well done to all the students from the LVI IB group who took part in the event – and the members of staff too!
The CASathlon contributes to the CAS element of the IB students’ diploma; CAS is a programme of creative, active and service experiences they engage in throughout the 2 years. We were really pleased to see the students embrace the ethos of CAS at yesterday’s event.
