News Caroline at the British Nationals 13.09.2019

Congratulations to Sixth Form student Caroline who, for the second time, competed in the British Nationals for swimming during the summer and returned with a clutch of medals.

The competition, which took place over one week at the end of July in Glasgow, pitted the top 24 swimmers per age group in Britain against each other. Caroline qualified to compete in eleven events, but given the demands of the week – with heats each morning and finals every afternoon – she and hear coaches decided that she focus on seven events.

Caroline performed exceptionally well, earning medals in five events and was ranked as the top performing sixteen year-old in the competition. Her results were as follows:

  • 4 x 100m Freestyle Relay – 1st Place
  • 50m Freestyle – 2nd Place
  • 100m Freestyle – 2nd Place
  • 100m Backstroke – 3rd Place
  • 200m Individual Medley – 3rd Place
  • 200m Freestyle – 6th Place
  • 200m Backstroke – 18th Place

The whole school is extremely proud of the hard work and dedication that Caroline has put into her swimming in the past year – spending for eleven months of the year training – all whilst juggling her GCSEs.

Congratulations, Caroline on your fantastic achievement.
