Careers in Science - Talk

Posted: 20/01/17

On Tuesday the 17th of January, we were very lucky to welcome Georgina Healy (a chemical engineer who is currently working at Ford) to our first 'Careers in Science' talk. Chemical engineering is the branch of engineering concerned with the design and operation of industrial chemical plants, amongst other aspects. Over 50 girls from Year 9 to the Upper Sixth came to hear Georgina speak about her outstanding achievements and career. It was truly inspiring to hear about her journey all over the world and how being part of a female minority has not impacted her ability to succeed at what she does. 'Careers In Science' is a series of lunchtime talks happening this  term at school, aimed at inspiring girls to excel in science and to find out more about different scientific career options. There are still not enough women in this field of work and by providing information and support, we can get more girls involved in STEM.
