Award-winning Author Holly Smale Talks to the Lower School

Posted: 08/02/19

The Bishop Centre was abuzz with excited chatter as Holly Smale, author of award-winning series 'Geek Girl', spoke to Lower School students.

Holly enthralled our students with the tale of how she became an author: from a childhood spent reading 'classic' books, to being spotted by a modelling agency at the age of fifteen, then packing it all in to study English at the University of Bristol before focusing on becoming a full-time writer. She found her voice as an author, a long held aspiration, with her character Harriet Manners, heroine of the Geek Girl series. Holly’s talk was full of humour and wit, which went down a treat with both students and staff.

Following a question and answer session, girls excitedly queued up for a chance to meet Holly and get their copy of her latest book, 'The Valentines', signed - a day before its official release.
