The A Level Fine Art exhibition was a wonderful celebration of Upper Sixth A2 Level submissions as well as samples of works in progress by the Lower Sixth. The standard of the Art and Design seen at this exhibition was superlative both in terms of technical excellence as well as in the innovative use of a broad range of specialist processes of making. An individuality in how project work evolved was clearly seen and students demonstrated a willingness to think big – not just in terms of scale but also in the way they pushed the boundaries of materials and processes. Works ranged from relief-printmaking, cyanotype camera-less photograph processing, oil painting, sculpture, installation, film and who could forget how one student had built and programmed her work drawing mechanism which digitally reinterpreted an academic drawing of a skull.
This was an outstanding display of the talent of this year’s A Level artists.
