Bank of England Target 2
Top students in the UVI may be invited to take part in the prestigious Bank of England/Times Target 2 Competition. Students take the role of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Bank of England. They are required to analyse current economic indicators with a view to assessing underlying inflationary pressures in the UK economy, and then to propose an appropriate base interest rate.
Institute of Economic Affairs Essay Competition
Students are invited each year to submit an independently researched essay on a specific economics related issue.
Young Enterprise
LVI students are invited to form a real company. Students raise finance, make real products for sale, and at the end of the year liquidate their company formally. Companies will be invited to present their business ideas at the end of the year to local business people. There is also an externally accredited examination taken in March.
